I've been reading 2-3 collections (of poetry) every week for classes, and this is a great thing. I was built for school. The latest poets are Philip Larkin and Robert Lowell. To my surprise, I came out the other side loving Larkin and wanting to love Lowell. Perhaps it's my learned bias against Boston blue-bloods and the trappings of their trust funds (not that Larkin wasn't privileged...), but Lowell's poetry just doesn't batter me in the way that Larkin's does.
Poems I recommend from Larkin:
Next, Please
Deceptions (this is my favorite!)
No Road
For Sidney Bichet
The Whitsun Weddings
I have too much to say about too many things, so for now, this will have to do.
